How to be a morning person

how to be a morning person

I have a love/hate relationship with the morning. Over the years, with having to deal with early wake-ups, I have learnt how to be a morning person.

Being a morning person takes skill and dedication. It is not easy when you are not naturally a morning person. I still think people are crazy for going for a run at 6am…in Winter. I mean, it’s cold, it is dark and miserable.

I am this type of person:

So, as you can see, I need all the help I can get for making sure my mornings go smoothly and without any hitches!

Here are some steps for how to be a morning person:

Organise your lunch the night before.

Honestly, this is the best thing you can do. I always make my morning tea and lunch the night before to save me time in the morning. It makes the morning easier, and if I oversleep, I can pretty much just have breakfast, brush my teeth and go.

Don’t wash your hair every day.

I’ve recently trained my hair to go through days of non-washing (but I still shower every day). I have a quick five minute shower in the morning 3 days a week and then a slightly longer one on Monday and Thursday. Training my hair to be washed every few days has actually been the best thing ever. I save water and save time!

Decide what to wear the night before.

Every night I spend 10 minutes organising what to wear the next day, and lay it out on my chairdrobe. This saves me vital time in the morning. I can just get up, get changed, and do my morning routine.

Have a simple breakfast.

I usually just have a bowl of cereal and a cup of tea for brekkie. It is easy to prepare. I do take a second breakfast with me (usually something like a sugar free muesli bar) to eat before class starts.

I organise all activities and lessons before I leave work in the afternoon.

This means I do everything like photocopying before I leave (I usually get everything for the next week prepared on Friday) – I like to be able to just walk into my classroom and have things ready to go.

What are some things you do to make your mornings run smoothly?
